Nature's Symphony: A Harmonious Blend of Design and Environment

Shu-Hui Lu's Award-Winning Interior Space Design Mirrors the Natural World

The inspiration for Nature's Symphony came from the elements of nature surrounding the residence. The vast space and large windows of the residence allowed for an abundance of natural light, which Shu-Hui Lu used to her advantage. The interior design and furnishings reflect a natural style, with suspended potted plants and handmade wicker artworks pairing with a wooden ceiling to echo the natural scenery outside the windows. This creates visual gradations that are bright, neat, and full of life.

Nature's Symphony is unique in its use of Southeast-Asian wooden veneer and collaged tile flooring. Rattan weaving and wood carving are the keynote elements of the design, reflecting light indistinctly indoors. Green vegetation, either suspended or planted in specially shaped ceramic pots, constructs a vivacious living environment together with the furnishings and upholstery inside.

The design also features a garden house that exudes a Balinese leisurely, laid-back vibe, with a distinctly elegant Southeast-Asian flavor. The garden house also uses Southeast-Asian wooden veneer and collaged tile flooring, rattan weaving, and wood carving as its keynote elements, creating a cohesive design throughout the residence.

One of the challenges Shu-Hui Lu faced in creating Nature's Symphony was achieving visual balance in the indoor public section. The ceiling, floor, and walls are white-tone, with simple molding décor enriching the walls and ceiling. This added exquisiteness and heightened three-dimensionality. Visual balance was achieved by means of divided lines, creating a cozy and peaceful ambiance. A rustic style was constructed by beige-hue sofas, and an elegant, exotic feel was created due to the earth-tone pillows, rattan woven chairs, carpet, and TV cabinet.

Nature's Symphony is not only a design masterpiece but also an award-winning one. It was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
